These exercises focus on Negative Sentences.
Negative Sentences with Be (am / is / are / was / were)
When the verb is be, we add not after the verb.
Examples:

Short forms are common:

Negative Sentences with Action Verbs
With most verbs in Present Simple and Past Simple, we use do / does / did + not.

Negative Sentences with Modal Verbs
With modal verbs, we add not after the modal verb.

He should not (shouldn’t) drive so fast.

We must not forget the meeting.
Negative Sentences with Will
To talk about the future, we use will not (won’t).
Examples:

I won’t travel tomorrow.

She will not join the class.
Negative Words
Sometimes we use words like nobody, nothing, nowhere.
Examples:

Nobody answered the phone.

Nothing is wrong.

No one came to the meeting.
We usually do not add another negative word.
Incorrect: I didn’t see nobody.
Correct: I saw nobody.
Common Mistakes
Incorrect: He don’t like coffee.
Correct: He doesn’t like coffee.
Incorrect: She didn’t went home.
Correct: She didn’t go home.
Incorrect: I no understand this rule.
Correct: I do not understand this rule.
Everyday Examples
